New Flat Handover Checklist: What to Inspect Before Starting Interiors
Asian3D Team · 2026-10-07 · 1 min read
Taking handover of a new flat is exciting, but this is the best time to find defects: builders usually fix issues faster before you start interiors. Take this flat handover checklist with you.
Walls and ceilings
- Look for cracks, uneven plaster and damp patches, especially near bathrooms and windows.
- Check the walls where you plan a TV unit or feature wall are straight and smooth.
Floors and tiles
- Tap tiles gently; a hollow sound can mean poor fixing.
- Check for chipped tiles and uneven joints.
Doors and windows
- Open and close every door and window. Check locks, handles and hinges.
- Look for gaps that let in rain or dust.
Plumbing and electrical
- Run every tap and flush, and check for leaks below sinks.
- Test every switch and socket.
